Environmental Marine Information System (EMIS)

The Environmental Marine Information System (EMIS) has been developed to facilitate access to scientific and technical environmental products and relies on biological and physical variables generated from both hydrodynamic models and satellite remote

The Environmental Marine Information System (EMIS) is a geo-portal application that provides access to spatial, temporal, physical and biological marine variables, and related environmental information, derived from satellite remote sensing and/or numerical modelling.

EMIS facilitates the implementation of EU environmental policies, providing consistent and accurate bio-physical data / indicators to assess, for example, some of the descriptors for Good Environmental Status as defined in Annex 1 of the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (More info: mcc.jrc.ec.europa.eu).
